Mt Joy signs with Island Records

The group announces a North American tour in 37 cities

With over half a billion streams under their belt, Mt. Joy returns with their new single “Lemon Tree” via Island Records. The track, which is accompanied by a dreamy, psychedelic-style music video, features bright guitar underlining a nodding beat, before an offbeat riff and sweet chorus settle in.

“It’s about realizing that you can’t change the past, but if you can work to be a force of positive energy for others, you can be rewarded with the privilege of moving forward,” reveals Matt Quinn. “I’ve been drawn to this phenomenon when you think of someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and that person is texting you or contacting you in some physical way. On my most spiritual level , I think there is something in our energy that connects us. When you lean into positive energy, you are rewarded for generating happiness for those around you. “Lemon Tree” is about the power of our connection through this force.”

After amassing over half a billion streams and garnering widespread acclaim, Mt. Joy has just announced their 2022 Orange Blood U.S. Tour with special guest Grammy-nominated West Coast singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, LA-based indie-folk trio Wilderado and The Brook & The Bluff. The trek will begin in South Carolina on June 16 and will make stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, New Orleans and Dallas before ending in Austin, Texas on November 5. The tour will follow their current spring run which has sold out dates in Canada, New York and North Carolina. Additionally, Mt. Joy wraps up SXSW at Auditorium Shores on March 19.

Mt. Joy – composed by Matt Quinn [vocals, guitar]Sam Cooper [guitar]Sotiris Eliopoulos [drums]Jackie Miclau [keys, piano]and Michael Byrnes [bass] – take their name from the quiet rural town in southwestern Pennsylvania, about four hours from their base in Philadelphia. Together since 2016, they imposed themselves two years later when their eponym Mount Joy The debut album grew out of “Silver Lining,” an uplifting ballad that went to No. 1 on AAA (Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay) radio and eclipsed over 120 million Spotify streams to date. Their second album, Reorganize us (2018) received widespread critical praise. Over the past four years, Mt. Joy has performed at various festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo and toured with The Lumineers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Revivalists and The Head and The Heart.
