Maharashtra Pollution Control Board issues show cause notice to Mahad’s chemical company

  • Privi Organics India Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of aromatic chemicals.

Bombay: Maharashtra Pollution Control Board became aware of a complaint lodged by an executive of Yuva Sena, Shiv Senathe leader of the youth wing of against an aromatic chemicals manufacturing company of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Mahad Wednesday.

Vikas Gogawalethe head of Yuva Sena district had filed a complaint against a company Privi Organics India Limited units 1, 2 and 3 for violation of Pollution standards. Taking note of the complaint, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board issued a show cause notice to Privi and several other MIDC companies, Mahad.

The complaint indicates that these companies would have violated the provisions of the Air and water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981. Companies were asked to file their response within seven days.

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board officials visited the company site to inspect the irregularities. In accordance with the show cause notice, inspection officers found that in March 2022, the company had produced 123 metric tons of waste. It was discovered that the waste was not properly disposed of according to standards and the law and several guidelines were flouted.
