Franklin Fire Company to Host First Outdoor Adventure Day – Times News Online

The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company will host its first-ever Outdoor Adventure Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog will be on hand.

There will also be s’mores, fire-roasted hot dogs, funnel cakes, Hoff’s Kettle Korn, made-to-order sundaes, homemade chicken pot pie, chili, halushki and toppings. ladies of the Franklin Township Fire Company Auxiliary. Chips, pierogies, soft drinks, tea and coffee will also be available.

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Jim Thorpe River Adventures, and Bronson Ebikes & Trikes will have exhibits.

Weather permitting, attendees will have the chance to meet the Lehigh Valley Health Network medical evacuation flight crew and see the helicopter up close.

Children will be able to escape the “burning house”, build bird feeders, try their luck in a special raffle for children and take part in various contests, competitions and hands-on learning experiences.

DJ Monroe Berger will play tunes and help with announcements.

There will be opportunities to win items through door prizes, raffles and silent auctions. Prices include:

• A rare, reconditioned Stingray Jesse James West Coast Chopper 20-inch e-bike donated by Bronson Ebikes & Trikes of Allentown and valued at $400.

• Two day passes to Dorney Park or four passes to Kalahari Resort & Waterpark

• Bass Pro Shops/Cabelas donated a 10×9 6-person tent, two sleeping bags and two camping chairs.

• A choice of four Skirmish/Paintball passes, four Pocono Whitewater Rafting passes, one day bike rental for a family (up to six people) and one rafting trip for six courtesy of Jim Thorpe RiverAdventures.

• A 3 lap stock car racing experience?

• Tractor Supply donated a wood-burning fireplace, Mount Airy provided an overnight stay with two buffet meals, and Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm provided four passes.

• Four Iron Pigs tickets or four Wilkes-Barre/Scranton RailRiders baseball passes.

• Allentown Symphony Orchestra classical or pop concert during the 2021-2022 season at Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown.

• Dom ‘n’ Ali’s donated a $125 gift card to spoil the family.

There are no admission fees.

“The fire company, fire police and auxiliaries look forward to seeing many familiar faces for this special event,” said Chris Lilly, president of the Franklin Township Fire Company Auxiliary. “Be sure to visit the fire company, join in the festivities and (maybe) be a big winner.”
