“Children of Corn” by Stephen King
One of the first films to shoot at the start of the pandemic in 2020, Kurt Wimmeris the new version Stephen Kingit’s Corn Children has seemingly completely slipped off the radar for the past few months, with no release date set yet.
It’s been almost a full year since we last heard about the movie, which apparently released in just two locations in Sarasota, Florida in 2020. It’s the eleventh overall installment in the long-running Corn Children franchise, and each time it comes out, it will be the first film since John Gulager Corn Children: Escape in 2018.
Kurt Wimmer, for those who don’t know his name, is the director of films including Christian Bale with Christian Bale Balance and Milla Jovovich with Ultraviolet. Corn Children is his first film since 2006, although he has more recently written films such as Law-abiding citizen, salt, total recalland Breaking pointas well as horror movie 2020 To spell.
In Wimmer’s film, which would have very little to do with King’s novel, “A psychopathic twelve-year-old girl in small-town Nebraska recruits all the other kids and goes on a bloody rampage, killing corrupt adults and anyone another who opposes her.A brilliant high school student who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope for survival.
Here’s another plot synopsis we found: “A clever teenage girl finds herself trapped in a horrific plot by the young children of her town to murder all their parents and ‘cure the corn’.”
The cast of the new film includes Elena Kampouris (Before I fall), Kate Moyer (“When Hope Calls”), Callan Mulvey (Avengers: Endgame) and Bruce Spence (The road warrior).
