Given all the excitement Doctor Strange 2 leaked and rumored cameos, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that Multiverse of Madness is a sequel to strange doctor. There could be several exciting superheroes in the movie, including a starring role for Scarlet Witch. But it’s a story that’s mostly about Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). This is something to keep in mind when managing expectations for big events that are about to unfold.

It’s also something that the author of the film made clear in an interview before the Multiverse of Madness first. Besides that, Sam Raimi also shared how Multiverse of Madness will impact the Doctor Strange arc. Some spoilers may follow belowso proceed with caution.

what will be Multiverse of Madness wear on?

Trailers and TV spots all paint the same partially misleading picture. Something threatens the fragile balance of the multiverse, and it will be up to Doctor Strange to fix it. The problem will require Avengers-level assistance. This is why Strange will try to enlist the help of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). But Wanda will prove to be the film’s main antagonist, which the trailers only loosely tease.

Doctor Strange will travel to other realities with the help of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). He is a superhero whose power is to open portals between different universes. And that’s a power that Wanda will want. Again, this is a plot detail that doesn’t come from the trailers or TV commercials.

Strange will encounter all sorts of characters along the way, including at least one evil variant of himself. And director Sam Raimi recently teased in an interview that we’ll be seeing multiple variations of Strange and Wanda in the film. Some will be better than others.

Sam Raimi’s take on Doctor Strange

Speaking in Berlin at the Multiverse of Madness press tour, Sam Raimi went into more detail about what the film means for Doctor Strange. He teased that the new story will further enrich Stephen’s arc:

He grew a little throughout the avengers movies I’ve seen. I think at the beginning of this movie, he starts off as a very confident person – maybe too much – who thinks he’s the one who has the most control over all the decisions. It’s safer that way… He has the most confidence in himself, and not so much in others. And I think in this photo, this little chapter of his life, he’s learning to let go a little bit. That it’s not all about him [and] that he can trust others.

But it was Michael Waldron who pushed this point home – that Multiverse of Madness is a Doctor Strange story. The writer worked Loki before the Doctor Strange 2 after. This MCU TV show sets in motion all the multiverse events we’ve seen so far.

Waldron said SFX Magazine that the main point of the story is to focus on the titular character, no matter how exciting the prospects of the multiverse are.

“The danger is that you can expand your scope too broadly, and you can actually lower the stakes if you don’t personalize it as you expand,” Waldron said. “But the opportunity in the multiverse is to have characters face ‘What if? and alternate versions of themselves and possibly others in their lives. It’s an interesting way to hold up a mirror to the characters.

Waldron on Continuing the Character Arc

The implication is that fans should remember that Multiverse of Madness is a story centered on Doctor Strange. This can help them temper their expectations, especially when it comes to crazy cameos.

“In every way, it shapes the emotional core of the story. It has to,” he said. ‘is just a kitsch thing that we play with in this movie.’ If you are faced with alternate realities and alternate versions of yourself that need to become the emotional core, explore who you could be if you were a different version of yourself, if you made other choices, the right ones choices or bad choices. It’s complex stuff, emotionally, and that’s exactly why it’s so exciting and awesome for a cast as talented as this.

Further reinforcing the idea that Multiverse of Madness is a Doctor Strange story “first and foremost,” Waldron said of watching the franchise’s first installment multiple times.

“I wanted to figure out, ‘Okay, who was that character in that movie? Who was he at the end? And then, ‘Okay, so what did he go through in those movies Avengers and all, leading up to Spider-Man?’ And that’s really where we picked up.

We’ll see exactly where Doctor Strange’s journey takes us in a few weeks when the movie hits theaters. Waldron’s full interview with SFX Magazine is available in the current issue.

Looney Tunes maestro Frank Tashlin embraced the musical comedy genre in 1956 with an influential live-action rock and roll classic featuring Cinemascope and DeLuxe Color visual assortment.

Girl can’t help it (Criterion, unrated, 2.36:1 aspect ratio, 98 minutes, $39.95) now offers a stunning home theater debut in high definition format with a new near-pristine restoration taken from the original 35mm camera negative.

Jayne Mansfield stars, embracing her platinum blonde bombshell persona, as Jerri Jordan – a rising, reluctant singer.

Threatened by loud mobster Fats Murdock (Edmond O’Brien), music agent Tom Miller (Tom Ewell, who co-starred with Marilyn Monroe a year earlier in lucky “The Seven Year Itch”) is forced to do her a star, but all Jerri wants to do is cook for Tom as she begins to fall for him.

Despite the comedic high-level performances, the real stars of the film are the cavalcade of musicians unleashing this crazy new genre of music. The consistent and wild on-screen promo features legendary performances from Little Richard, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and Fats Domino to name a few.

Equally powerful is the visual power of Tashlin and cinematographer Leon Shamroy. They often treat the film like a cartoon, rich in saturated colors and offering madness in laughter as Jerri (a living incarnation of Jessica Rabbit) walks down the street in a tight-fitting dress as delivery men discover that a block of ice melts rapidly in his presence. or boiling milk above a bottle while a stunned spectator has cracked glasses.

Visuals often sport a bath of blue lighting, whether on a hotel balcony or tinted white walls, a fridge or Mansfield’s blonde hair. However, the colors often explode on screen, referenced by singer Nino Tempo’s red dress, the shimmering purple curtains of a nightclub, Jerri’s red lipstick or a shiny red 1956 Lincoln Premier convertible.

Overall, viewers enjoy a ridiculously entertaining and colorful nostalgia trip that it’s perhaps impossible to believe existed in the 1950s.

Best extras: Criterion features a selection of newly created archival content and information, beginning with an optional commentary track originally released with the 2006 DVD release of the film.

Viewers can listen to Toby Miller, a cultural studies researcher and professor of film history at the University of California Riverside, offer his thoughts on story details, the characters’ perceived motivations, and even add psychological profiling. He’s definitely lectured and injects opinions into his analysis that don’t necessarily reflect the filmmakers’ intentions. His analysis becomes more interesting when he talks about musical artists and their careers.

For what’s new, start with a pair of disc jockeys – WFMU’s Gaylord Fields and Dave “the Spazz” Abramson – making each other laugh for 30 minutes as they delve into the history of early rock and roll movies, then hone in on “The Girl I Can’t Help It. They cover the backgrounds of on-screen artists such as The Chuckles, Nino Tempo, and Eddie Fontaine, and offer production and cast details far beyond just music.

Then, watch critic David Cairns for 16 minutes on the shooting techniques and color strategies the director and cinematographer used to deliver the overtly vibrant and somewhat surreal visual presentation, then move on to a biography of 14 minutes rich in information about Mansfield from the biographer. Eve Golden covering her rise and fall and her love-hate relationship with the press.

Additionally, viewers receive a 40-minute 2017 episode of Karina Longworth’s “You Must Remember” podcast covering dead blondes and focusing on Mansfield.

Finally, the Blu-ray contains a massive 21-minute interview from 2004 with cult filmmaker John Waters about his love for film and early rock and roll. He puts no effort into a film he considered “celebrating the beauty of bad taste” and filled with his memories of Mansfield, singers and bands.

The packaging also includes a 12-panel fold-out brochure featuring an essay by film critic Rachel Syme and restoration information.

And, for added enjoyment, a 12-page booklet features excerpts from Tashlin’s 1952 book “How to Create Cartoons” visualizing the SCOT Art (Square, Circle, Oval, and Triangle) technique with a new introduction by the historian. Ethan from Seife.

MONROE, CT — Monroe native Joey Ambrosini continues to build on his acting resume. In his latest film, Ambrosini stars in “The Jackpot Hit,” a crime thriller about two crooks who team up for a big score. The duo hatch a dangerous plan to shut down the local mob’s card game.

The film, which is slated to premiere on YouTube on May 13, 2022, is currently in post-production. There was a day of filming in North Haven, but most of the film was shot right here in Monroe.

“For me, shooting this movie in Monroe was a unique feeling,” Ambrosini said. “I put a lot of time and dedication into creating this story and playing my character, which makes this project very special to me – and Monroe, being the town I grew up in, will always have a special place in my heart, so pursuing my passion in my hometown is like no other.

Ambrosini, whose credits include writer and producer, stars as Billy.

“My character, Billy, is very bold but very arrogant,” he said. “I think he’s kind of conflicted as the movie goes on, because he’s trying to do a million things at once to accomplish this mission, which forces him to motivate his partner and come across as that guy that you should fear. ”

The cast of “The Jackpot Hit” includes another notable figure in Monroe. Tony Spera, the son-in-law of famous ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren and himself a paranormal researcher, stars as Raymond.

“My character, Raymond, was the mob boss – a really cool guy,” Spera said. “It was a tough game, only because I know ‘the crowd’ doesn’t exist. Understand?”

Along with acting, Spera is preparing for “Warren’s Seekers of the Supernatural Paracon”, an event for people to view haunted artifacts. It is scheduled for October 29 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. For tickets, click here.

Rounding out the cast of “The Jackpot Hit,” Keont’e Collins (“Massacre Manor”) as Jacolby, David Torres Jr. (“Hocus Pocus 2”) as Gussy, Tommy Fury (“The Harvard Psychologist”) as Carlo, Chris Baldyga (“Mr. Birthday”) as Chuck, Halle Curley (“Black Vulture”) as Desiree, Adriana Medina (“Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death”) as Maria, Tony Grano (world championship boxing legend) as Sal, Alessandro Molluzzo (“The Bitterman”) as Vincenzo, Eric Morin (“Burial Ground Massacre”) as Bruce, Steve Galluzzi as Jack and John Bellonio as Angelo.

“Being Jacolby was an action-packed experience,” Collins said. “I was also able to be behind the camera.”

The film is directed by Michael Giovannini (“Pay Day”) and the distributor is Giovannini Productions. The production company is Gruemonkey.

Tony Spera plays mob boss Raymond in the new movie ‘The Jackpot Hit’.

“It was a great experience directing ‘The Jackpot Hit’,” said Giovannini. “I’ve learned so much over the past two months and I’m very excited for the final product. This is just the beginning for me and I’m extremely confident that this film will raise the bar I’ve set for myself as a filmmaker.

Samonek said, “Honestly, producing this movie was awesome! Everyone here has been very nice. Michael Giovannini made sure the film days went really well with the help of Joey Ambrosini as well.

“Everyone on set really showed me they were going somewhere,” he said. “They’re very passionate about what they do and are really going to move forward in the film industry in a way that’s never been seen before. I just can’t wait for this to come out.

Casting Backgrounds

Halle Curley has been attached for roles in numerous projects such as ‘Breakup Alli’, ‘The White Queens Army’ and ‘Witches of the Hollow’, all Carly Starr productions.

Adriana Medina should play a role in “The Port” by Joel Roman, based on real events.

David Torres Jr. has roles in many upcoming projects slated for release. Two of them are also in the detective genre. He plays Stefano “Smooth” Esposito in Joseph McGee’s “Tony Martone”, which premieres July 8, 2022. He also plays Nicky B. in Robert Curreri’s “Cadillac: A Mobster Fairy Tale” whose release date will be soon determined.

Since first appearing as a casino patron in the 2018 movie “Vault,” Ambrosini has been actively building his acting resume. He starred as one of Santa’s elves in 2019’s ‘My Adventures with Santa Claus’, before landing his first feature film role as Perry in ‘Burial Ground Massacre’ last year. .

This year, Ambrosini reprized the role of Perry in the Burial Ground Massacre sequel Damon’s Revenge. Other recent film credits include roles in “Drowning in Secrets” and “Junkyard Dogs” and Ambrosini is involved in seven films in pre- and post-production.

WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) – The West Monroe Police Department increased patrols at the Tinseltown movie theater after a shooting occurred in the parking lot on March 5.

After a shootout involving two Monroe gangs, mostly minors, hit theaters this weekend, police will be patrolling the streets more often in the future.

“So we’re going to have two officers inside and there will be another officer outside patrolling the streets.” Said West Monroe Police Chief Jeff Terrell.

“In addition, our patrol division provides extra fuel in the area over the weekend, especially to ensure there are no large crowds. And, if there is anyone one who causes problems in the theater, he will be banned,” said Terrell.

Additional portable lighting in the car park will also be added

“We have portable lighting, LED lighting on the towers here, and we’re bringing one of these units to Tinseltown to really light up the parking lot.” Terrell said.
