Fascinated by those charming Vaux’s swifts? Enjoy watching them circle the chimney and enter in a whirl in August and September? Want to learn more and also become an ambassador, sharing your knowledge and the fun? Then come join us at the Docent Training this coming Wednesday, Aug. 24th.
Volunteer docents welcome visitors and provide information about the Vaux’s swifts in the evening during the first few weeks of September. Many docents enjoy participating in Swift Night Out (September 10 this year). The number of hours that each docent volunteers depends entirely on each person’s availability.
There will be a short training for those interested in becoming Docents on the auditorium steps in front of Wagner Center (639 West Main Street, Monroe) on Wednesday, August 24th, at 7:30 p.m. We should have time for the basic training, signing up on the Docent Calendar, and still be able to watch the swifts settle into the chimney for the evening.
Susie Schaefer will bring the training information along with lemonade and cookies for those interested in being docents.
Please call Susie Schaefer before August 24th so there will be enough training materials and cookies that night — be sure to leave your name and number. Please call 425-771-4165 or 425-478-9383 (or you can text to this number). If you get a chance, please go to www.vauxhappening.org before the training.
